This guide was created to help players learn how to play “Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun”, and has been updated to include new Veteran Balance information.

INSTALLING TIBERIAN SUN

 

Download Tiberian Sun for free here: https://cncnet.org/tiberian-sun

 

Log into Cncnet.org: After you download Tiberian Sun you can log into Cncnet.org by clicking on the Tiberian Sun program on your desktop or whatever folder you put it in.

 

Screen Resolution: When you log onto Cncnet.org make sure to setup your screen resolution and hotkeys. To set the Game Resolution, click on the “Settings” button in the top left corner of the main cncnet.org lobby. Set the game resolution to the highest your computer can handle. The (1920 x1080) Resolution is nice. It shows more build options on the sidebar, and reveals more of the map on your screen. Seventeen or Nineteen build options on the right side of your screen is what most players have, once they change the resolution. A Large Monitor allows you to have a bigger screen resolution.

Random tips for playing Tiberian Sun: Listed below are some random tips for new Tiberian Sun players.

 

Graphics Card: A Computer with a graphics card is nice

 

Headset: A headset eliminates noise distractions.

 

Wired mouse: A wired mouse is usually less lag than a wifi mouse.

 

Hard wired internet: A hard wired internet is usually less lag than a wifi internet.

 

Close programs and internet browser: Close background programs and your internet browser to speed up your games.

 

You can not pause a multiplayer Tiberian Sun game: A glass of water and bathroom bottles can be helpful in an online game that has no pause button.

 

Gaming mouse and Gaming Keyboard: A gaming mouse or gaming keyboard can speed up your mouse pointer speed. It can also have programmable hotkeys and macros (macros = combinations of hotkeys)

HOW TO START A GAME ON CNCNET.ORG
 

Log into Cncnet.org: After you download Tiberian Sun, click on the Tiberian Sun icon that should be on your desktop (or wherever you saved the file). A startup screen will ask you to enter a nickname. After doing this, you will be taken to the main Cncnet.org website chat lobby. Once you have logged into the main Cncnet.org game lobby you can start your own games or join other players games.

 

How to Start Games and join games on Cncnet.org:To start your own game, click the button in the bottom right of your screen in the main Cncnet.org chat lobby that says [NEW GAME]. If you want to start a tournament ranked game, you will need to press the button that says [RANKED MATCH] You will need to sign up with Cncnet.org to start a ranked match with your email address.

SETUP A NEW GAME:

 

  • Open a new  game: To start a new game just click on the the green button in the bottom right corner of the main lobby screen that says "Noew Game".
     

  • Kicking players: Kick a player to temporarily remove them from your game lobby by left mouse clicking on the green “X” to the right of the player's name in your game lobby.
     

  • Banning players: Ban a player to permanently remove them from your game lobby. They will not be able to rejoin. To ban a player, click on the red “X” to the right of the players name in your game lobby.
     

  • Start a game: Click the “I'm Ready” Button to start a game, wait for the other players to accept. After all the other players have accepted, a green light should appear next to all of their names. Once they all click the [IM READY] button, the [LAUNCH GAME] button will appear where the [IM READY] button was. Click the [LAUNCH GAME] button to start the game.
     

  • Choose map: You can choose a map by left mouse clicking on the box under the word “map” in the top left of your screen.
     

  • Choose game settings: You can set any game settings you want but tournament settings from the original game can be found at the following link: https://tiberiansunguide.wixsite.com/tiberiansunguide/game-settings

HOW TO JOIN SOMEONE ELSE'S GAME:
 

Join a game: To join a game on Cncnet.org, double left mouse click on any game that you see in the top left corner of your screen in the main Cncnet.org chat lobby.

 

 

TIPS FOR JOINING SOMEONE ELSE'S GAME LOBBY:

 

When you join a player's game there are several things you might want to do before clicking the [I'M READY] button at the bottom left of your screen, so the host can start the game. Listed below is a checklist for you to go through when you enter a game lobby.
 

  • Decide to join a game: If you want to see who is in a game lobby or what map is set in a game lobby before joining a game, you can left mouse click on the game lobby name one time. It will show you the map and all the players in that game lobby so you can decide whether or not you want to join that game.(If you double left mouse clickon a game lobby, you join that game lobby)
     

  • Identify players: Double left mouse click on a players name to see their other names they have used to identify players. If you know how some players play, this information can be useful.
     

  • Using TAB: Type one letter of someone's name and press TAB to write out their whole name quicker. This is useful for alerting players that don't click the “I'm Ready” button to start the game.
     

  • Game settings: Game settings can affect the game play dramatically. Make sure to check the Game Settings. Most pro players use the same game settings from the original Tiberian Sun game, which can be found at the following link: https://tiberiansunguide.wixsite.com/tiberiansunguide/game-settings
     

  • Check the map for cheats: Look at the bottom middle of the screen at the big blue button. If the map is heavily modified it might have cheats. The blue button should say [NO CHEATS]. If the blue button a the bottom middle of the game lobby screen says [WARNING], the map might have cheats. You can click on this button and inspect the code of the map, if you have some coding knowledge about Tiberian Sun.
