GDI STRUCTURES -3
COMPONENT TOWER:
upgrade = no unfreeze: If the EMP Cannon froze your Component Tower and you added a Vulcan Cannon, RPG, or Sam upgrade, the tower will still be frozen by EMP Cannon until it wears off.
CT spam empty: GDI can spam a lot of Component Towers early and leave them empty because empty Component Towers don't use as much power as the upgrades do. Leaving them empty also allows you to heal 100% with upgrades if planes try to destroy them. Add upgrades as the enemy attacks and you need them.
2 Orca F kill CT: One Orca Fighter will not finish a Component Tower, it will need 50hp more damage to be destroyed. Two Orca Fighter easily destroy a Component Tower even if it repairs fast with two shots left (one bullet ammo).
GDI POWER PLANT
Boom sell turbine = nah: There is no reason to sell a GDI Power Plant to try to get more soldiers if the GDI Power Plant has more turbines. You do not get more soldiers when the GDI Power Plant with multiple Turbines is destroyed.
BARRACKS
Move GS away from Barracks: Left mouse click on the Barracks and click far away on map so that when the Ghost Stalker comes out, he won't shoot through Barracks at enemy behind it.
Barracks alts to fog: Left mouse click on the Barracks and then click somewhere on the map in the fog of war, and newly built soldiers will walk to that part of the map. You can not do this with the War Factroy or Helipad. You can only send units to previously scouted areas on the map, not fog of war areas that are unscouted.
POWER TURBINE
Turbine = save pp from 2 OrcaB PB: If you add a Turbine to a GDI Power Plant, in the middle of a power bomb by two Orca Bombers, you can save the Power Plant from two power bombs.
Turbine + Engi: Combine turbine heal with multiple Engineers walking into Power Plant to heal even faster. You might be able to save your Power Plant from two power bombs from two Orca bombers in a group.
VULCAN CANNON UPGRADE
Vulcan no Engi: A new Vulcan Cannon is cheaper than Engineer, only $350. (Engi =$500) Consider not ever sending an Engineer into a Vulcan Cannon to heal it unless it is emergency.
Vulcan Cannon CTRL fire no hurt inf: CTRL force firing Vulcan Cannon on the ground will not hurt units that walk over the area that much, consider never doing this.
Vulcan mimics Buggy: The Vulcan Cannon and the Attack Buggy sound very similar. The Vulcan Cannon shoots much faster but you can use the “S” command to slow it down and mimic an Attack Cycle. Never seen this done in battle, but it might have a niche case use one day.
Vulcan face direction: Approach from opposition direction Vulcan Cannon is facing for slight time advantage.
Deploy Tick vs Vulcan: Definitely try to deploy Tick Tank vs Vulcan Canon.
Titan 1 cell longer range Vulcan: Titan has one cell range longer than Vulcan Cannon so it can destroy the Vulcan Cannon without being harmed outside of its range.
RPG UPGRADE
RPG Engi heal priority: Since the RPG Upgrade is the most expensive upgrade for a Component Tower, you might want to be more active in protecting it with Engineer. Engineer only costs $500, but new RPG costs $800 ( 200 for CT, 600 for RPG)
RPG face direction: Approach from opposite direction RPG is facing for slight time advantage.
Deploy near RPG: If you deploy tank next to RPG you can shoot other buildings, you don't have to destroy the RPG if it can't hit you deployed next to it.
Build out RPG: On small maps, the GDI enemy can build out with RPGs early. They have a decent range, longer than Lasers or Vulcan Cannon. Be ready for this as Nod.
RPG wins Laser: RPG upgrade will beat a Nod Laser in a 1v1 battle even if the Laser got the first shot off. Engineers can help. Don't build RPG so close to enemy building, that the enemy can place Lasers right next to your RPG so it won't hit them. Stay back a little if possible or destroy those enemy outbiult Tiberium Silos to keep the Lasers back, attack multiple Silos same time.
GDI SAM UPGRADE
Early 2 CT, Sam closer CT to enemy: If you have two empty component towers to defend early Jump Jet Inafantry attack, consider placing the Sam on the Component Tower closest to the enemy first, in case that JJ is already close to your base. Second Sam goes on your other CT next.
SERVICE DEPOT
SD no heal noise: The Service Depot makes no noise when it heals vehicles. Early in the game, the fog of war can keep your Service Depot location and healing volume of vehicles unknown. In a team game, you can use Stealth Generator to keep SD hidden also.
Deployed tanks no go to SD: If you have a group of vehicles, and you send them to the Service Depot, only the undeployed vehicles will go. The deployed vehicles can not be sent to the Service Depot until you undeploy them.
Multiple SD: Multiple Service Depots can be nice later in the game. Some pros like to have one SD in their base, with another Service Depot closer to the enemy near the middle tiberium in the map.
SD damaged by Carryall on Tank built in: You can place a Service Depot on top of a Carryall sitting on a vehicle. This makes it look like they are sitting on the SD, but they are actually not. If they are destroyed by EMP Cannon, the Service Depot will be damaged to 4 bars of red health but not destroyed.
No sell “S” on SD: You can't sell a vehicle that stopped on Service Depot with “S” stop command.
“D” deploy stops SD: Pressing “D” to deploy a unit, or double left mouse clicking on a unit to deploy it while it is healing on the Service Depot, will stop the Service Depot from healing that vehicle.
Target SD = healing unit hit: Target the Service Depot while it is healing a unit and that unit will also be damaged.
SD = $132 to fully heal Titan: A Service Depot can fully heal a Titan in around $132.
Two SD = heal Carryall MK same time: Two Service Depots can heal the Mammoth MK2 and Carryall same time. Heal the Mammoth on the SD near center of map first, then fly back to your base to heal the Carryall on the SD in your main base.
GDI UPGRADE CENTER
Seeker save GDI Upgrade Center: If you see enemy units like Orca Bombers coming to your base and you suspect they might try to kill your Ion Cannon. Build a Seeker Control very early. Works best on large maps where you see enemy coming from far away. Keep the Seeker control on pause ready to be placed and place it as soon as the Orca Bombers bomb your GDI Upgrade Center once. (Note: hard to do in a fast paced game. Keeping Seeker on hold, and you can't place any other buildings, timing is important)
ION CANNON
Ion Cannon destroys stolen: Ion Cannon can be used to quickly destroy any building that the enemy just stole from you with three Engineers. Do it fast so the enemy has no time to sell the stolen building. Make sure the enemy has no time to heal the stolen building with a fourth Engineer.
Ion never kill non broken CC/cyb: An Ion Cannon will never kill a non broken Cyborg or Cyborg Commando. Even if they have tiny red health, the Ion Cannon will only break them in half and not kill. Consider Never using Ion Cannon on Cyborg Commando unless you have 1 Orca Bomber or 1 Orca Fighter to finish the job.
Ion edge kills plane but not Helipad: The edge of the Ion Cannon might be able to destroy a plane on a Helipad but not even hardly damage the Helipad at all.
Ion finishes full health broken CC/Cyb: The Ion Cannon will destroy a full health Cyborg or Cyborg Commando that has already been broken in half previously but regained all health.
Men unharmed in apc: Ion Cannon won't hardly hurt soldiers inside a Subterranean APC or Amphibious APC. They remain mostly undamaged. Consider not wasting the Ion Cannon unless you have Orca Bomber to finish the Engineers inside the SubAPC. Wait until the Engineers exit and then use Ion Cannon on the Engineers.
Ion stops “1-shot” Diz: Ion Cannon will smash a Disrtuper in one shot before the Disrtuper can perfrom its “1-shot” tactic and destroy your Tiberium Refinery or War Factory in one shot by shooting though it diagonally. The Ion Cannon might be the best way to stop a Disrupter “1-shot”.
FIRESTORM GENERATOR
Tiberium Silo +FS outbuild Ally: You can build Tiberium Silos in and near your Ally's base and protect their base from air attacks with your Firestorm Generator. Make sure to protect the Silos. The enemy might target those quickly.
Backup 2nd FS on pause: You can lure the enemy into destroying your only Firestorm Generator while having another Firestorm Generator paused and ready to place. Place the second Firestorm Generator right before the enemy destroys your first FS Gen. The enemy might not see your second Firestorm Generator until it is too late. Build Firestorm Wall Sections and try to stop the planes. (Note: 2nd FS hiding in fog of war is nice)
